On June 28, 2024, we lost our former student Rudy Andeweg, Vice President of the Electoral Council from 2017 to 2024 and Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau.

In 1968, as an active and engaged student, Rudy Andeweg was one of the forerunners of the Political Discussion Committee, which considered such issues as ‘the usefulness of NATO’ (how prescient!), ‘development aid and the third world’ and ‘sexuality before marriage’. In 1969, he became the first president of the newly formed School Council. He wrote an interesting article about his years at the Rijnlands (1964-1970) in the 1981 Lustrum Booklet, which can be found on this site.

It is therefore no surprise that Prof. Dr. Andeweg was a highly regarded professor of Political Sciences at Leiden University until his retirement in 2018. We wish his wife Mieneke and his children and grandchildren much strength in their loss.
